Chasing the Rainbow recently visited the vibrant city of Jo’burg. We enjoyed a family day doing things the tourist way, by plunging off Soweto’s distinctive Orlando Towers, and then touring the city centre on City Sightseeing’s red hop-on hop-off bus.
Our family is originally from Jo’burg, but we had never seen our home town from that perspective. We were amazed by how clean, colourful and friendly downtown Jo’burg is.
The hop-on hop-off tour was the perfect way to see the city of Johannesburg, and took our family on a fascinating journey through SA’s path to democracy. Jozi is a thriving metropolis, full of things for a family to do, and well worth a visit.

We had lunch at TheSheds at 1Fox. Amazingly good street food! They are open Saturdays and Sundays.
I got to do the Sightseeing Jhb open bus when I was up there for the Lilizela Awards last year. It must be the best way to see Jozi. I started at the Apartheid Museum which I really wanted to do and that chowed up over two hours of my time so I ran out of time and didn’t get to see everything I wanted to. Did get to do the Carlton Centre and swung past Constitution Hill. I’m sorry I missed the Braamfontein stop though.
