Although we have lived in the surfing mecca of Port Elizabeth for 10 years, we have never been surfing. We decided it was time to change that, and went for our very first family surf lesson at Oceanside Surf Store with our fabulous 5-in-1 Nelson Mandela Bay passes.

Our family loves hamburgers. Every Friday is Burger Night, and Ralph spends many hours making his own gourmet patties. So when we go out for a meal, our expectation is for the restaurant to deliver a specially crafted, well thought out and tasty burger – not a mass produced fast food number. If you were to tell me that it is possible for a family of five from Port Elizabeth to get lost deep in the wild, a mere ten minutes from home, I wouldn’t have believed you. But trust me, it is not that far-fetched. As we discovered on our hiking trip to the Island Nature Reserve.
When I saw that Kragga Kamma Game Park was running a kiddie’s photo competition over the school holidays, I knew this outing would be a winner for us. Our blogging travel adventures have been somewhat limited of late, with Ralph out of action recovering from a shoulder op, and we are suffering from a chronic case of cabin fever.
We have three kids, loads of photographic equipment, and a collective keen love of nature – the perfect ingredients for a successful kid’s photo safari.
